| NARCONON Drug Rehabilitation Program | |||||||||||||||||
|
|
The purpose and demand of NARCONON Program is that people can live their lifes free and happy without drugs. This doesn't admit the use of substitute drugs. Therefor the name NARCONON from narcotics= drugs + non = no, none.
We don't regard the participants of the NARCONON Program as 'patients' nor 'victims' or 'addicts' but individual personaltities who deceided to completely give up the drug consumption in order to find better solutions. The NARCONON Self-Help Program is composed of several build up steps on one another. The social component is set up of team work, projects and recreational activities, as well as mutual responsibility and help. An eventually necessary withdrawal can be done in a Narconon faciliy, that are specially prepared for this. The different methods are used in order to ease mental or physical discomfort and not even give rise to in the degree as it is usually the case. The withdrawal is therefor accomplished with a minimum of discomfort for the person withdrawing. |

| STEP 2 Fitness- & Sauna Program | |||||||||||||||||
|
Meanwhile it's been scientifically documented that drugs and toxically substances deposit in the body system especially in the adipose tissue. Particularly drug taking enduring for longer periods could bring about negative manifestations after years of abstinence in mental, emotional and physical conditions of the person. Frequently reported subjectively experienced effects after long enduring drug-taking are amoung others, disorientation, unbalanced sensations, aimlessness and sluggishness, and a lack of basic motivation to be active. Some drugs ( for example LSD or XTC) could cause flashbacks (jargon) long after the drug was taken. That is to say that a person could reexperience drug-like conditions long after the drug is taken and could be influenced negatively in his thinking and acting.
If drugs residues remain in the body system they could get reactivated for example in times of physical duress or feeling of hunger as the body's fat gets mobilized which again cause the drug residues to circulate in the body system. Thus a re-craving for drugs is stimulated. The precipitation of harmful substances is a unique aspect of this program, as this procedure is aimed at mobilizing deposited substances, foreign to the bod, and to assist the precipitation. This process is prefaced and promoted by a system composed of physical exercise, stay in a low-temperature sauna and the taking of therefore special composed highly-dosed vitamins and mineral combinations.
As this program step is very intensive, the explicite approval of the doctor is necessary as possibly aspects regarding health need to be taken into account. As already mentioned at the beginning this method results in a deceided improvement of the general well-being and is a basic component to return to a drug-free life. |

| STEP 3 Learning Improvement | |||||||||||||||||
| This step teaches the program attendant methods, which increase his ability to solve barriers and , if necessary, deficits at appropriation of knowledge and thus regain the joy and willingness for future learning and professional enhancement.
Most of the attendants lost the willingness to learn because of breaking off school, breaking off apprenticeship or the like. Therefore the re-establishment of this willingness is an essential step for the personal and professional development. It is imparted how to learn and appropriate knowledge independently. |

In this program step the program attendant gets in a way the Know-How to differentiate between social and antisocial persons and groups and therewith he gets a guide, in order to recognize true friends in his future life. | STEP 7 Improving Conditions in Life
| At this point the attendant learns to evaluate objectively his own performance and to set a real target for his future. The step covers among other things intentional confrontation with the earlier situations in life, where the person was involved in negative conditions and didn't have a useful solution.
It is essential and important, like in all parts of the NARCONON Program, that the learned is applicable individually in one's own life and thus leads to an extensive personal enhancement. | STEP 8 The Way to Happiness
| As, in most of the cases being connected with drug addiction, there is a subsidence of the estimation of wrong and right behaviour regarding life itself, there is also thereby a subsidence of the own willingness to adhere to optimistic principles and rules, which are basically significant from a moral viewpoint for the support of the person himself, his enviroment and his fellow-man. The Way to Happiness is a conclusive guide of rules whose adherence is basically founded on the voluntariness of the person to apply it in daily life. The principles imparted here are in agreement with timeless ideas of moral, which are shared with the majority of people in all cultures and are thus independant from trends, as they are basically founded on common sense and not dogma.
The program step conveys 21 principles which are together form a non-religious moral codex based on reason. The practical realization in the future work-related and private weekday can cause a man to become a productive and trustworthy member of any group activity whatever. |
